Employment

As an ATT apprentice you are employed by the Apprenticeship Training Trust.

You and ATT together enter into an Individual Fixed Term Employment Agreement that terminates on completion of the apprenticeship.

For plumbing and gasfitting this is after you have completed 8000 hours of work experience and obtained your National Certificates in Plumbing and Gasfitting.

For drainlaying this is after 4000 hours of work experience and on receipt of written advice that you have obtained your National Certificate in Drainlaying.

ATT pays your wages, organises transfers of host employers, and arranges your block courses and the other specialist training.

During your apprenticeship ATT and your host employer both monitor all aspects of your progress and development. You will have regular meetings with your Area Manager as part of this process to ensure the apprenticeship is benefiting you in preparation for your career in this industry.

You will have a formal performance appraisal at regular stages throughout your apprenticeship.

To assist you with the progress of your apprenticeship, ATT has set up an apprentice portal on this website. Once you have registered on this you can view all your training and employment records.

Your portal also has a "Hot Stuff" section in which you can access and if necessary, download the ATT apprentice Tool List, wage scales, leave application forms, the apprentice House Rules and Individual Employment Agreement.

Since 1 November 2007, each Trust apprentice also has an electronic mailbox into which the Trust "emails" their weekly pay slips and all other correspondence.  This replaces the physical mailing of such documents to the apprentice's home address.  ATT apprentices can use this mailbox to send and receive messages and can also forward all their incoming mail to any other email address they might have.
