The Tool Account

On commencement of your apprenticeship you need an initial set of tools. Thanks to our suppliers, we can provide these at discounted prices.

You can pay for them upfront, alternatively we can open a "Tool Account" facility for you.  With your prior approval we then deduct 10% of your gross weekly wages each week from your pay until your Tool Account has been paid off in full.

All Apprentices require an initial set of tools on commencing their Apprenticeship.  The cost of this full set of tooling for Plumbing and Gasfitting, is approximately $1200.00.  Drainlaying Apprentices need only purchase the relevant tools that are required for drainlaying, which cost approximately $600.00.

Please note that in the event you do not complete your Apprenticeship for any reason, your Tools Account must be paid off in full on ceasing employment and that tools cannot be returned in lieu of such payment.

At the start of each of Levels 2 and 3 there are additional tools you need to purchase. In each case you may choose to either pay for them then, or alternatively put up to $1,000 of tools on your Tool Account and pay by weekly deductions from your wages.
