To keep up with this ever changing situation of new products, technologies and regulations, plumbers like most other, professionals, now have to keep up to date. 

The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Registration Board has introduced a competency based licensing regime. 

This means eventually that all registered plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers will have to undertake a minimum amount of ongoing professional education to retain their annual practising license. 

A range of professional development courses are in the process of being formally approved for this purpose.
