Licenced (Previously Registered)

  1. Each plumber, gasfitter and drainlayer and apprentice/trainee working in these trades, must hold a current practising licence under the terms of the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 1976.
  2. The criteria for these licences are also listed on the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Registration Board (PGDB) Web Site:  www.pgdb.co.nz
  3. After completing their apprenticeship and gaining their National Certificate in any or all of plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying, the next professional level is being Licensed.  One of the requirements of registration in each of these disciplines is that the applicant must have passed the relevant Registration Examination. 
  4. These examinations are held twice per annum in June and November and candidates must apply for them by the closing date advised on the PGDB website.
  5. Apprentices are permitted to sit the Registration Board exams whilst an apprentice, however the Trust does not require Trust apprentices to do so as part of their Trust apprenticeship; the decision to sit them is a personal one by the individual Trust apprentice.
