SUPPORT FOR OTHERS IN TRAINING

In our industry there are a large number of employees who have never undertaken any formal training and gained an industry qualification.  There are many others who never completed that training; they include ex apprentices who, for a various reasons, never completed their apprenticeship.

While these folk are still working in the industry there is an increasingly strong view that our industry should employ or contract only those who have completed training programs and gained industry qualifications.

Completing an industry qualification for many presently unqualified  employees is quite a challenge, and for some just “off the radar”   However many employers are keen for such employees to get qualified, earn more and go on to achieve a more meaningful career path.

A return to any form of formal study can however be quite daunting for those who have not done any for some time and/or not been successful in the past. Motivation and self belief might be lacking, personal organisation for self study might conflict with family and other pressures, and yes, it actually means you have to apply yourself and do the time, including that maths stuff!!

But, ask yourself the question – what if I did get my registration?

What would it mean to me as a person? How would I feel about that when I look at the chap who did it in the mirror every morning! What would my boss say to me! What’s it worth to me in $! What more could I now do in my life!!

We have an Offer for You - to Realise that Dream!

The Trust is proud of its record of helping apprentices succeed, and our systems and processes work well – in the last 20 years we have helped over 800 apprentices through their apprenticeship, gain their National Certificates and go on to achieve registration.

We are offering these same services that our apprentices get  - in training management, personal organisation, motivation, coaching and mentoring to those of you who want to become qualified in this industry.

Our Training Management Support Agreement.  To use these services you don’t need to be employed by the Trust as our apprentices all do.  We will provide those services to you …. by entering into a Training Management Support Agreement (TMSA) with your employer.

In return for a monthly fee we will manage your training, meet with you regularly, help you organise things so you meet training deadlines and make sure you are feeling good about your studies and being “on track” to achieve your (and your employer’s) goal.

You will also have access through us to purchase discounted tools and items of PPE, and receive all our communications on training and employment.

These services under a TMSA are not available to apprentices in training. They must join one of our Group Training Schemes in Plumbing and Gasfitting, Drainlaying or Roofing

They are only available to:

·         Journeymen who have either not undertaken or never completed a formal training program leading to registration as a licenced practitioner in plumbing and gasfitting or in drainlayin

·         self employed tradespersons, business owners and/or contractors who want to complete a formal training program in plumbing and gasfitting, drainlaying or roofing

·         Licenced plumbers and/or gasfitters and licenced drainlayers who want to now gain registration as a certifying practitioner.  This group includes ex apprentices who now wish to gain certifying status.  Note: there may be opportunities for ex apprentices to join the Trust and be employed under a group training scheme for their 2 years of training towards certifying status.

Interested?  Talk to your employer about this and then contact us on 0800 18 78 78 or info@att.org.nz
