Apprenticeship Training Trust celebrates 91 graduate tradies and award winners

We are delighted to congratulate our 91 new fully-qualified tradies in the plumbing, gasfitting, drainlaying and electrical trades who graduated at the ATT celebration ceremony, held online on 17 September 2021. The virtual event replaced the planned graduation and awards celebration that was to be held at SkyCity Auckland on the same evening and the South Island event that was to be held at The George in Christchurch earlier in September.

All graduates have finished between two and five years of training on-the-job, plus theory training by travelling to technical institutes for block courses and some have undertaken night classes. CEO, Nicola Dashper, said “we are thrilled to see these qualified young tradies complete their training and enter the workforce at a time when trade careers are needed more than ever. They have worked hard and deserve our heartiest congratulations and praise. To have 91 graduates from all over New Zealand is fantastic. We have all experienced major disruptions this year which has increased the need for skilled plumbers, gasfitters, drainlayers and electricians and it is wonderful to see such a strong cohort of tradies entering our much-needed workforce.”

ATT also presented annual awards at the event and congratulated all graduates and award winners. CEO, Nicola Dashper, said “nominations were gathered from hosts, apprentices and ATT area managers and it was heart-warming to read the submissions. We were thrilled with both the number and the quality of entries. The recurring themes were of hard work, commitment and both apprentices and supervisors going above-and-beyond in so many ways. It is a credit to our host companies that we have mentors that are able to train and support apprentices to enable them to become the well-rounded and skilled professionals that they can be.

“I would also like to recognise that training an apprentice is a big job – I would like to thank the host businesses, the ATT area managers and support staff, the tutors, supervisors, mentors, families and friends and everyone else who is there, behind-the-scenes supporting each and every apprentice. Plus I would like to say a special thanks to the ATT sponsors who support the awards with amazing prizes and recognition for those who raise the standard – thank you to: Plumbing World, Dux, Rheem, Nexans, GWA/Methven & Caroma, Powerbase, Peter Diver Plumbing & Drainage, Mico, ToolWare, Skills, Site Safe, NZ Safety Blackwoods and Telfers.”
